So, hello everyone. I recognized those plates immediately. The book by Hough has been re-published lately by Taschen editions in Germany under the title "The Wood Book".
It includes the descriptions that accompany the plates, complete with translations in German and French. Seems it didn't sell too well, I found mine at a discount bookshop here in Hamburg.
It's available e.g. through Amazon France as well. Go to the Amazon site and search for "taschen wood book".
Best regards and thanks to Benoit for providing this forum. I need a dictionary and lots of time to understand most of the postings but it's really worth the effort.
Cheers Johannes, Thanks for those great infos, I didn't know it was comin' from a book, a good idea for a present! Feel free to write in English if you're in a need!
