j'ai retrouvé les propos de Linda davis Wallen (acheteuse de bois chez MARTIN) à propos de ce modèle dans la discussion suivante (très intéressante d'ailleurs) :

- Check out our website for the new Arts & Crafts 2 Limited Edition made with German White oak (quarter/rift sawn) with a herringbone type flake figure that was just introduced at NAMM.
- "The German white oak is Quercus petraea. And, the entire edition is coming from one large log. "
- Actually, the log was cut stateside for flitch matched furniture use. But, it was offered to us by one of our old customers for whom we used to custom quartersaw large oak and sycamore logs years ago when we had our log bandmill.
- We have built a few out of red and white oak in the past. But, I cannot speak for how they sounded. I do know that the porous structure is tough to finish - lots of filler.
-We have also built ash guitars (D16A) in the past with sucess. Oak is similar in properties.
- Our vendor specified it to us with those common and botanical names. He personally selects all of his logs worldwide.
- The whole yield of the log was purchased and delivered to us rift/flitch cut in KD 5/4 boards. We are resawing and marking out the resawn bookmatched sawn veneer flitches into backs & sides.
